Divi 5 FAQs

Pee-Aye Creative FAQs

Will your plugins be updated for full compatibility with Divi 5

Yes, all our plugins will be updated for full compatibility with Divi 5. However, it’s important to understand that the Divi team is still actively developing it. While we are actively rebuilding all our plugins to ensure full compatibility, ongoing changes and core updates in Divi 5 need to be completed before we can finalize the conversion process for third-party products like ours.

At this time, third-party plugins are neither expected nor feasible to be fully compatible with Divi 5. The core structure required for us to complete the rebuild of our plugins is not yet finalized, and Divi 5 continues to undergo frequent changes and updates behind the scenes. However, until then, all plugins should continue to work generally with some minor glitches, as Divi 5 has backward compatibility, which renders the modules as shortcodes just like before.

As a leading Divi plugin developer and community leader, we are fully committed to ensuring all our products are updated and compatible with Divi 5. We are already making great progress on this! However, we kindly ask for your patience during this transition phase. The process requires significant time, resources, and cost, so we truly appreciate your support and understanding.

Rest assured, by the time Divi 5 reaches its full public release, all our plugins will be fully rebuilt and compatible, providing the same high-quality features and performance you’ve come to expect from us.

We will share more information on how to access these updates as soon as it becomes available, as we are not sure how Divi Marketplace will handle that. We strongly suggested to Elegant Themes that they need a way for us to mark our plugins as Divi 4 or Divi 5 compatible, and we hope they take our advice for the benefit of all users. Until Divi 5’s official public release, please be patient and know that we are working diligently to ensure a smooth transition for all our plugins.

Thank you for your continued support, understanding, and kindness during this process! Please refer to the Divi 5 Compatibility Guide for each plugin linked above to check the current status of each plugin and help with the testing process.

What is your current status?

We are actively working on rebuilding our plugins, which has been a long and stressful process, especially with the changes in Divi. The status of each plugin is noted in the Divi 5 Compatibility Guide in each plugin linked above.

For context, although Divi 5 was in development behind the scenes for a few years, the foundational code structure changed significantly as it was being established. As third-party developers, we were not advised to begin our work until these changes were more finalized. This meant that we only gained access to the necessary tools for plugin development in the second half of 2024, which was actually quite late in the overall Divi 5 development timeline.

Despite this challenge, we have patiently and politely requested the required integration structure from the Elegant Themes team. As of June 2025, we have most of what is needed (about 12 pending items waiting on them). We are still waiting for them to provide additional code structure so that we can complete our work. If you want to help, please gently remind Elegant Themes that 3rd party plugins are a priority for you, and ask them to provide more team support to ensure the foundation of Divi is compatible before they focus so much on new features.

Overall, we are making steady progress and are on track to have our plugins ready for Divi 5 during the Divi Public Beta period. Currently, most of our plugins are completed for Divi 5 and available for beta testing, while the others are making excellent progress.

How with this affect our "helper" related plugins?

At Pee-Aye Creative, we offer two main types of Divi plugins. The first is a traditional module plugin, such as our Divi Table Of Contents Maker or our Divi Tabs Maker. The second type is our “helper” series, where we enhance existing Divi modules by adding new settings. Examples of these “helper” plugins include our Divi Contact Form Helper and Divi Search Helper.

The “helper” plugins were significantly impacted by the delays in the development of Divi 5, as they require a different code structure compared to regular modules. This resulted in notable delays in our own work, but we maintained communication with Elegant Themes to address the issue. After some patience and perseverance, we are grateful that their amazing developers have provided most of the necessary updates to move forward, although this has happened very recently.

As of June 2025, we are still waiting on a few important fixes in Divi from the Elegant Themes team, but thankfully, we can proceed with most of our development. We have already completed several of our “helper” plugins, which are available for beta testing in our community. Please refer to the Divi 5 Compatibility Guide for each plugin linked above to check the current status of each plugin and help with the testing process.

The second type is our “helper” series, where we enhance existing Divi modules by adding new settings. Examples of these “helper” plugins include our Divi Contact Form Helper and Divi Search Helper.

In general, we actually don’t have many regular modules in our collection of plugins, since we take a different approach and focus on upgrading existing modules. These are already completed, as they are easier to achieve than the others. We have already completed several of our “maker” plugins, which are available for beta testing in our community. Please refer to the Divi 5 Compatibility Guide for each plugin linked above to check the current status of each plugin and help with the testing process.

Can I help test your plugins for Divi 5 compatibility?

Yes, that would be awesome! We are excited to announce that most of our plugins are available for beta testing with Divi 5, and we’d love your help! As one of our valued customers, your input is incredibly important in helping us ensure that every feature and setting works flawlessly.

While we’ve already tested the plugins ourselves, having more eyes on them will give us confidence that they’re as polished as possible. We’d greatly appreciate it if you could try out these plugins and provide feedback!

To get started, access the group for each plugin in our private community! If the plugin currently has a beta version available to test for Divi 5, you will see a link to download it in the top left corner of the group. We can’t wait to hear from you!

Will the beta versions of your test plugins be auto updated?

If you have downloaded a beta version of one of our plugins for testing and installed it on a staging or temporary site, there will not be any auto-updates available for that version. However, we frequently update the file available in the community, so we recommend downloading a new version each week.

For sites that do not have the beta version installed, the update to each of our plugins for Divi 5 will be a standard automatic update on your website, just like usual.

Will you maintain multiple versions of the plugins?

Yes, what we have done is create a system that checks which version of Divi you have installed, whether that is Divi 4 or Divi 5. Based on that, the appropriate code in our plugin is activated. This is a clever way to ensure that regardless of which version you are testing, the plugin won’t crash and will provide the proper codebase for either version. Therefore, there will not be any clear distinction in our version number other than they will continue sequentially like before, and support for Divi 5 will be clearly noted in various places.

This is actually inspired by the way Divi is handled. Elegant Themes will not maintain multiple versions of Divi. Once Divi 5 is ready after the Public Alpha and Public Beta, they will release an update for everyone and continue with the version numbers like usual.

Do I need to pay extra for Divi 5 versions?

Nope! If you have an active license for one of our plugins, the version does not matter, and you will receive all updates for free, included in your plan, whether for Divi 4 or Divi 5. While we invested significantly in rebuilding our plugins for Divi 5, and are facing a financial burden because of it, we understand it would not be fair to our customers to ask you to pay more. The work needed to be done to ensure we remain relevant in the future of Divi. As a leading third-party plugin developer, we are committed to continued innovation and being here as long as Divi exists. We appreciate your support, as all our income from sales goes directly to developing our plugins.

General FAQs

What is the current stage of Divi 5 development?

The first version of Divi 5.0 Public Alpha was released to the public at the end of September 2024 and the latest version is available to download and test. Please be sure to read the details carefully and do not use this on live websites yet.

When will Divi 5 Public Beta be available?

A lot is happening behind the scenes of Divi 5. The team at Elegant Themes already released the Public Alpha at the end of September, 2024.

The next step in the roadmap is Public Beta. It’s still too early to tell when Public Beta will be released, but until then, there will be many versions of Public Alpha released every two weeks.

What will happen to shortcodes?

There’s an unfortunate misconception circulating about shortcodes being phased out in Divi 5, and we addressed it clearly in this blog post about clearing up the confusion about shortcodes in Divi 5.

The change in Divi 5 only affects how the Divi Builder modules work, shifting from shortcodes to blocks. In the linked blog, we clarify what’s changing and reassure you that WordPress shortcodes will still continue to work exactly as before.

How will the update process work?

The Divi 5 update will be a normal update, similar to previous updates.

If you are referring to the migration process, that is handled by a new system in Divi 5, which checks for compatibility first. Please check this Elegant Themes blog post for more information.

What happens to my post content with the Divi 5 update?

Users will have the option to migrate their post content to the Divi 5 format. However, if you choose not to migrate, your existing Divi 4 modules will continue to function like shortcodes as they currently do.

Is Divi 5 backwards compatible?

Yes, the goal is for Divi 5 to be fully backwards compatible. You can read more about this on the Elegant Themes blog post.

Will Elegant Themes maintain multiple versions of Divi?

No, Elegant Themes will not be maintaining multiple versions of Divi. Once Divi 5 is ready after the Public Alpha and Public Beta, they will release an update for everyone and continue with the version numbers like 5.0.1 and 5.1 etc.

Where can I find official info about Divi 5?

On May 1, 2024, Elegant Themes published a page on their website dedicated to Divi 5.0. Please check there for all official public news related to Divi 5.0. They have also been posting regularly about it on their blog, and you can find information about it in the Divi Dashboard of any site running Divi 5.0 Public Alpha.
