Divi Search Helper Plugin Feature Update 2.1

Nelson Miller Profile Orange
I’m excited to announce a new version of the Divi Search Helper plugin version 2.1 with lots of new settings and features.

One of the most practical plugins we offer is our Divi Search Helper, which adds all the missing features you need to give your users a great experience finding the content they want to see on your site. Today, we have a huge feature release, which includes Advanced Custom Fields (ACF) support, an option to include or exclude post types and taxonomies, a button to view the AXAJ search results in the regular results page as well, an option to disable the annoying search history feature in browsers, an option to open the search results by pressing the enter key, and more! Creating these features takes a lot of work, and we hope you enjoy using them! Don’t forget to leave a product review, which really helps us a lot!

▶️ Please watch the video above to get all the exciting details! 👆

Support For Advanced Custom Fields (ACF) In Search Results

For many users, our most exciting new feature is support for ACF in the search results. That’s right, now you can enter specific ACF field names in the Custom Meta field, and data from those fields will be included in the search results when you type in a keyword.

For example, if you have a custom field for Dog Breed and the field name is “dog_breed” you can enter this into the Custom meta field, and one of the posts has “Labrador” entered into a custom field, then now when search for “Labrador” it will show the associated post in the results.

Disable Input Field History

Most browsers have a feature that displays recent search results for input fields in a little tooltip. This can be annoying, so we have added a setting in our plugin to remove this browser feature when typing in your search term in the Divi Search module.

Show Button To View All Results

Now you can have a hybrid search results experience, combining both the AJAX search results dropdown with the Divi Theme Builder results page. You can do this by enabling a new “View All Results” button that appears at the bottom of the dropdown container, and when clicked, will link to show the results in the regular search results page.

Here is an example of how it looks by default. The button has all the standard full design settings and an option to make it fullwidth.

Link To Search Results Page With Enter Key

We also added a related setting when using the AJAX search results dropdown. Now you can choose to press the enter key when searching, and this will redirect to the Theme Builder search results page. This is completely optional of course, but is a common use case for many, so we are excited to add this new feature.

Open Search Results Page In New Tab

Since we added the button and the enter key features to open the search results, I thought it would be nice to also have the option to choose whether you wanted the results to open in a new tab or not.

Option To Exclude Search Results Criteria Instead Of Include

Until now, the default and only option for setting the search results criteria was to choose to include specific post types and taxonomies in the results. However, some users wanted to include all options except a few specific items, so we though of a way to achieve this. Now you can change a dropdown setting that affects whether all the post type and taxonomy checkboxes “include” or “exclude” the selected items.

Enter Custom Text For Pagination Links

We added the ability to enter your own custom text for the previous and next pagination links when viewing the AJAX search results.

Support For WooCommerce Catalog Visibility Options

There is a setting in every WooCommerce product to set the “catalog visibility” with options like:

  • Shop and search results
  • Shop only
  • Search results only
  • Hidden

So now we added support for this, meaning if you have a product set to hidden or shop only, it will not show in the Divi Search module results.

Live Demo

We used our own module to create the live demo examples for the module! We even include the documentation as the content, so be sure to check it!

Documentation

As with all of our products, every setting and feature of the plugin is well documented! Go check out the plugin documentation area for everything you need to know about using the module.

      Hi A Z,
Thanks for your interest in our plugin! Yes sure, you can certainly style the input field with the design settings to match that with the icon within the field on the left. However, your images show a logo on the left side of the input field, and you mentioned how the logo changes to the back arrow, which is not common and we do not have a way to add that. You would need to add that with code.
