Overview
The Configuring Workspaces feature in the Divi Builder Experience Helper plugin is central to customizing your Divi Builder experience. Whether you’re a solo designer, a team of developers, or a client-focused agency, this feature lets you personalize the Divi interface to fit the specific needs of different users and roles. By creating custom workspaces, you can make the Divi Builder feel simpler, faster, and more efficient, while giving you the flexibility to control what your users see and access.
Think about this: maybe you’re working with clients who only need to focus on content, and you don’t want them accidentally stumbling across advanced design settings. Or perhaps you need your internal team to have full access to everything, but you want to simplify the interface for new team members. With workspaces, you can achieve this by controlling feature visibility, adjusting interface preferences, and creating a more intuitive, role-based Divi Builder experience.
This is where you can configure the Divi Builder for every user role, streamlining workflows, increasing productivity, and reducing the risk of errors by restricting access where necessary. Let’s dive in and walk through how to set up and manage your workspaces for maximum flexibility.
How To Use
To start configuring your workspaces, navigate to the Pee-Aye Creative menu in your WordPress backend and select Divi Builder Experience Helper. In the plugin settings interface, open the Workspaces tab from the left sidebar.
Manage Your Workspaces
Here, you’ll see a list of your existing workspaces (if any), and you’ll have the option to create new workspaces, edit existing ones, duplicate workspaces, or delete any you no longer need.
- Create a New Workspace: Click the Add New Workspace button to create a new workspace.
- Edit an Existing Workspace: Click the pencil/edit icon on any existing workspace to make updates and fine-tune it for your needs.
- Duplicate a Workspace: Click the duplicate icon to make a clone of an existing workspace, then make any necessary adjustments to the new copy.
- Delete a Workspace: If a workspace is no longer relevant, simply click Delete to remove it (click Confirm in the confirmation popup).
Once you’ve selected or created your workspace, you can begin configuring the settings that will define how Divi looks and feels for the assigned user role.
Assign The Workspace To A User Role Or Individual Users
When creating or editing your workspace, you can also assign it to a user role. This ensures your settings configuration applies to all users of a specific WordPress user role, or to selected individual users, when they log in and use the Divi Builder.
To assign the workspace, simply go to the Workspace Assignments tab, locate the template you just configured, and select the user role from the available options.
Configure The Settings Of Your Workspaces
The settings within each workspace are organized into several categories, with each section covering different areas of the Divi Builder. These setting tabs help you easily find what you need, thoughtfully grouped by similarity or location within the builder.
To configure your workspace settings, navigate the tabs in the left sidebar to access all available options.
NOTE: These tabs and included settings will continue to evolve quite a lot as we release new features. The reference screenshot will become outdated quickly, some items may change, rearrange, be added, etc.
Within each tab, you will find a very large number of settings available to adjust. As you go through each section, keep in mind the role or team you’re configuring this for, whether it’s simplifying the builder for yourself or clients or providing full access for advanced users. For example, you might:
- Hide advanced design tools for clients or users who don’t need them, making the interface cleaner and less overwhelming.
- Enable specific options for your team members or admins to provide quick access to advanced features.
- Set preferences such as the order of tools, default actions, or the visibility of certain sections to optimize workflows.
After adjusting the settings to your liking, remember to save your changes so that the workspace includes all your preferences and configurations.
Explore The Demo For More Details
Due to the extremely long list of features and the admin-side nature of this plugin, it’s best to explore the available options inside the plugin itself. You can go to our demo site and view screenshots and light documentation of all the features, or you can create a temporary admin demo sandbox from there to log in as a WordPress user and see how it works yourself. Each feature has clear explanations of what it does, along with graphics of what it modifies in the Divi builder.
