Frequently Asked Questions about the Divi Carousel Maker Plugin by Pee Aye Creative

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a carousel module?

Nope! This is not a new module, but rather a toggle in the Divi columns to make any other regular modules into a carousel! That’s the cool part!

Which modules can be added to the carousel?

You can technically add any modules to the carousel, even 3rd party ones! Some modules would obviously make more sense in a carousel than others. A few that would work well in a carousel are blurbs, images, call-to-actions, testimonials, blog modules (fullwidth only with offset number), videos, text, and more!

Why is there no visual preview?

You probably noticed a message about the visual preview inside the carousel tab when using our plugin. If you are familiar with Divi then you know that one of the greatest things about it is the Visual Builder. So you may rightfully have questions about why our plugin does not provide a visual preview of the carousel.

To understand this question, you first have to realize that our plugin is unique and way ahead of it’s time. We are hacking the builder and adding these features in uncharted territory. Divi does not provide us with any support or documentation for this kind of futuristic development. This means that we are outside the normal “custom modules” that other offer and are instead providing an innovative solution that does not yet have the technical support to show a visual preview inside the Divi Visual Builder. While this may be disappointing to all of us, we didn’t let that stop us from releasing this exciting plugin! If and when something changes to allow us to create a preview, you can rest assured we will do it! Meanwhile, please check our suggested workflow guide for a very helpful workaround for this.

What is the difference between a carousel and a slider?

There are no real definitions, but here’s how I would explain it. A slider is where one item is on the screen at a time, and you can click buttons to go next and previous. A carousel is when more than one item can be added and scrolled at one time.

Technically you could choose to show 1 item at a time, or 3, or 5, etc. So in that sense, the definition doesn’t work. But in general, it behaves as a carousel because you can add any Divi modules to it and show more than one at a time.

What would happen if I deactivate or delete the plugin?

If you deactivate or delete the Divi Carousel Make plugin then the modules will still appear on your page. The only difference will be that the modules will be stacked in that particular column instead of in a carousel. So you won’t lose any styling related to the modules, you will only be removing the carousel functionality.

Does this work with other themes?

The Divi Carousel Maker requires the Divi Builder in order to work, since that is where the carouse is located. The Divi Theme, Extra Theme, and Divi Builder plugin all have the Divi Builder. Otherwise, you will get a message like this:

Does JavaScript load on all pages?

Our plugin is fully optimized for performance, and the JavaScript used for the carousel is only loaded on a page if the carousel is enabled on that page. We use similar methods to Divi to only load asses dynamically as needed, and this is a high standard we set for all our plugins.
