You probably noticed this message inside the carousel tab when using our plugin:
Due to the unique nature of this plugin and the limited ability to customize the core Divi Builder, it is not possible to provide a preview of the carousel in the Visual Builder. The carousel settings will take effect when you exit the Visual Builder. If Elegant Themes makes this possible in the future, we will definitely add support. Please refer to our Suggested Workflow Guide for our recommended workaround for this.
If you are familiar with Divi then you know that one of the greatest things about it is the Visual Builder. So you may rightfully have questions about why our plugin does not provide a visual preview of the carousel.
To understand this question, you first have to realize that our plugin is unique and way ahead of it’s time. We are hacking the builder and adding these features in uncharted territory. Divi does not provide us with any support or documentation for this kind of futuristic development. This means that we are outside the normal “custom modules” that other offer and are instead providing an innovative solution that does not yet have the technical support to show a visual preview inside the Divi Visual Builder. While this may be disappointing to all of us, we didn’t let that stop us from releasing this exciting plugin! If and when something changes to allow us to create a preview, you can rest assured we will do it!
The Best Workaround Solution
What I am going to suggest is applicable in general when using Divi and not specific to our plugin, but the suggestion is ideally suited for using the Divi Carousel Maker.
1. Open Two Tabs Of The Same Page
I suggest having two tabs open in your browser for the same exact page. In most browsers you can right-click on the tab and select “duplicate” and another tab will appear next to it.
2. Work In One Tab, Preview In The Other
Use the first tab for working inside the Visual Builder. Use the second tab outside the builder on the frontend.
3. Save Changes In One, Refresh In The Other
As you work inside the Visual Builder, you can click the green “save” button any time or get into the habit of using keyboard shortcuts like Control/Command + S. Any time you adjust a setting, you can save your work.
Then switch to the second tab and refresh the page. Again, you can use a keyboard shortcut Control/Command + R to quickly refresh the page. Now you can see your changes take effect within seconds after making them in the other tab!
