Overview
Over the past few years, the Divi Builder has undergone a complete rebuild from the ground up, culminating in Divi 5, the foundation for Divi’s future. Because of these changes, all third-party plugins like ours also had to be rebuilt to remain compatible and supported. We’ve spent the past several years fully committed to this massive effort, investing significant time, energy, and financial resources. That hard work is now paying off, and we’re excited to announce that the Divi Contact Form Helper plugin is now fully compatible with Divi 5 while continuing to work seamlessly with Divi 4.
NOTE: To learn more about Divi 5, please visit our dedicated Divi 5 page. There, you’ll find helpful resources, FAQs, and in-depth information about this significant update.
Updating Or Installing With Divi 5
Whether you’re still using this plugin on Divi 4, upgrading from Divi 4 to Divi 5, or starting fresh with Divi 5, the process is simple, automated, and uses the same file. Please review our notes below for each scenario to understand what to expect.
Continuing To Use Divi 4
If you’re still using the Divi Contact Form Helper plugin with Divi 4, you can update it like any other update, and everything will continue working as usual. As needed, we will continue to support the Divi 4 version with any bug fixes. All new main features will only be developed in Divi 5 moving forward to avoid building everything twice, and to reduce our costs, a decision we are forced to make after a very financially stressful few years rebuilding everything from the ground up.
Installing Fresh On Divi 5
If you’re installing Divi Contact Form Helper 2.0.0+ for the first time on a Divi 5 website, you’re all set! This is the best approach, and there should be no issues at all. You can get started with the new backend settings interface and enjoy our plugin’s features!
Updating From Divi 4 to Divi 5
If you are updating from Divi 4 to Divi 5, the same plugin file works for both versions. The key difference is that now you will see the new backend settings interface in Divi 5. All settings from the Divi Theme Options in the Divi 4 plugin will now be migrated to the new interface. We recommend double-checking everything to be sure your settings are correctly configured after the migration.
This update also includes full module migration capability, allowing you to migrate your existing contact form settings from Divi 4 to Divi 5. Because Divi 5 is still new and the migration process is highly complex for a plugin of this nature, we strongly recommend testing all migrations on a staging site first. After migrating, please review your settings, especially custom field types such as file uploads and date pickers. We do not expect issues, but if anything unexpected occurs, please report it, and we will improve the plugin as needed.
Note that all settings previously found in the backend Divi Theme Options are now located in our own interface. Also, note that custom text settings that were previously in the backend are now in the module. For example, instead of setting custom text for the file upload field or signature field, you can now do that directly in each module in the field options.
Report Any Migration Or Other Technical Issues
We don’t expect many issues, but this is complex, and there are many possible scenarios. If you find any problems with the migration or a feature in Divi 5, please get in touch with us via our standard support form to submit a technical support request.
The New Backend Settings UI
Alongside the framework rebuild, this release also debuts our brand-new backend settings interface. This universal UI is being rolled out across all of our plugins and is designed to make setup easier, settings more consistent, and the overall experience with our product more helpful and intuitive.
We’re excited about this update because it not only modernizes the look and feel of the plugin but also sets the stage for adding many more features in the future without sacrificing usability.
A Note About Divi 5 Development
Please note that Divi 5 is still under active development. Elegant Themes continues to make changes and improvements, which means we may need to release minor updates along the way to maintain full compatibility. We’ll include any necessary fixes or adjustments in follow-up plugin updates, so be sure to keep your plugin up to date.
Thank You To Our Beta Testers
We want to thank all of our customers who helped beta test Divi Contact Form Helper during the transition to Divi 5. Your feedback and bug reports were invaluable in getting us to this release!
REMINDER: If you installed a beta version of our plugin for testing, you will unfortunately need to download the updated file from your account and install it over the old file, since there was no update system in the beta file.
Looking Ahead
Over the past several years, our focus was dedicated to rebuilding our plugins for Divi 5 compatibility. While this was a massive and necessary effort, it meant fewer opportunities to release new features along the way. As a result, we now have a long list of ideas, feature requests, and improvements that have accumulated.
With the Divi 5 foundation now in place, we’re excited to shift our attention back to expanding this plugin. We have a big vision for its future and you can expect to see new features, enhancements, and updates as we move forward.
