Overview
The Divi Contact Form module has a toggle for setting various field options, depending on which type of field is selected. Most of these are very limited, so we have expanded the field options with more custom features and settings in the Divi Contact Form Helper plugin by Pee-Aye Creative! We hope you enjoy these exciting features! This guide will show you how to enable and use the custom features and settings related to the field options.
Miscellaneous Field Options
Show Asterisks For Required Fields
One of those odd missing features in Divi is asterisk on required fields. We have added them! Now whenever you make a field required, it will show a red asterisk on the label text (if you are showing labels) or in the placeholder text.
Icons
Add an icon inside the left side of each form field and set the color. When you enable this setting, the icon picker field will appear for you to choose from any icon available in Divi. You can also choose the color for the icon.
Custom Phone Number Formatting
This setting only appears when the field type is set to Input Field.
The phone number formatting feature allows you to enter the specific phone number format you want to use. Please follow a pattern such as +x-xxx-xxx-xxxx or (xxx) xxx-xxxx with each x representing a number.
On the frontend when you type the number, it will automatically fill the number into the correct places as you type.
Search Field For Select Dropdowns
This setting only appears when the field type is set to Select Dropdown.
This took a lot of reworking of the code, but now you can enable a search bar at the top of a select dropdown list. Easily find the items you are looking for in a long list with this new convenient search field.
Default Selected Option In Select Dropdown List
This setting only appears when the field type is set to Select Dropdown.
In just Divi, there is no option to choose which one of the dropdown select items are default. So we added these features, and now you can set one of the options as default which will be selected as the placeholder on the frontend.
Message Textarea Minimum Height Setting
This setting only appears when the field type is set to Textarea.
By default, the textarea to write a message is not very tall, and this can be a small nuisance for people filling out your form. So why not solve this with a simple setting to choose to adjust the height of the message box to make it taller by default.
Textarea Validation
These settings appear when the field type is set to Textarea.
Set a minimum or maximum number of characters in the message textarea field and/or limit symbols to only letters or numbers, or alphanumeric.
Checkboxes And Radio Buttons Layout Options
These settings appear when the field type is set to Checkboxes or Radio Buttons.
This new setting appears in the field options when using the Checkboxes or Radio Buttons field type. It gives you the option to choose how you want the checkboxes to display, either inline horizontally or as columns.
Checkboxes And Radio Buttons Column Settings
These settings appear when the field type is set to Checkboxes or Radio Buttons.
If you decide to show the checkboxes and radio buttons as columns, then a new setting will appear to select the number of columns.
