Overview
If you have been wondering how to link Divi modules to an ACF Options Page, then you should rejoice because we have the solution! The Divi Dynamic Helper plugin by Pee-Aye Creative adds dynamic content support for the Options Page feature in Advanced Custom Fields (ACF). To put it simply, this new feature adds the custom fields from any ACF Options Page into the Dynamic Content popup list inside any Divi module. This is a huge feature that really shows the power of this plugin, and we hope you enjoy using it to open up all kinds of dynamic opportunities on your website.
This video and full written guide below will show you step by step how to use this amazing feature.
Keep in mind that the Options Page feature is only available in ACF PRO.
NOTE: This video is from the release post for version 1.4 update.
1. Set Up The Options Page
From your WordPress dashboard, click or hover over the ACF menu item on the left and selection “Options Pages” from the submenu.
Click on the “Add New” button.
Enter a title for the options page. This can be whatever you want for internal reference. This page title will show in the menu in your WordPress admin area below ACF.
You can choose to configure the advanced options if you like. When you are finished, click the “Save Changes” button.
2. Set Up And Assign The Field Group And Custom Fields
This step works exactly the same way as it does for adding custom fields to regular pages, so I won’t give a full description here. In summary, you need to
- Go to ACF>Field Groups
- Click the “Add New” button
- Add a title for the Field Group
- Add any custom fields you want
- Set the location rules to show this Field Group if the Options Page is equal to the [Options Page title]
For more information about these steps, please check the ACF resources:
3. Add Data To Custom Fields
Now that you have set up and assigned the custom fields for the global options page, it is time to add data to the custom fields. Technically you can add this after linking the modules, but I recommend adding some data now, as it will help you in step #4 to see data populate the fields when you view the page on the frontend.
4. Link Divi Modules To The ACF Options Page Custom Fields
Now comes the fun part that makes the Divi Dynamic Helper so awesome. With this feature, you can open any of the Divi modules that support dynamic content and link to the custom fields on the ACF Options Page from the list of items in the popup. Without the Divi Dynamic Helper plugin, you will only have the standard items and would not be able to see or connect to the custom fields in the Options Pages.
For general fields, you can check with the Divi documentation about how to use the Dynamic Content in Divi. For example, you can link an Image module to an image custom field, or a text module to a text-based custom field, or a link or other similar types of fields.
You can also use this with the modules that are supported by our plugin, such as the Gallery or Video modules. Be sure to check our other documentation guides about how to use those.
NOTE: One minor limitation in Divi is that you cannot use the Conditions feature to show or hide a modules based on a custom field value from an ACF Options Page.
Well done, you have completed the steps! Now go enjoy the result of this helpful plugin! Be sure to leave us a great 5-star review, it would be very helpful in spreading the word about our plugin. If you need any assistance, you can contact our support any time!
