Updating The Plugin
As a reminder, all updates notices appear in your WordPress dashboard like any other plugin. Once the update is rolled out to customers, you will see a notification in your plugins list to update the plugin to version 2.1. You can learn more about Plugin Updates in our documentation.
Please use a staging site. This is always best practice, but especially so for this particular update. Learn More
Clear All Cache
Updating this plugin to 2.1 may require you to clear your cache before you can see some of the changes. (This step should be the first thing you do with any plugin update or change.)Â
Open And Close Module Settings
W have noticed that sometimes it takes multiple cache clearing attempts to see the change. In this case, we have found the best way to clear the cache is to go to each event module and open the settings, then exit the module and builder again without chaning anything. This usually helps clear out the old in favor of the new.
Replace Module (last resort)
It is not required, but if you are still having trouble, it may actually be a good idea to replace the existing modules with brand new ones. This is due to so many major changes to the module. This will also allow you get familiar with the new settings and layouts and learn what all is available now.
The best way to go about this is to go to the page or template where you have the existing module and simply add a new one below it. Set it up, style it, and then delete the old one.
âš Review The Events Feed Module
We made a lot of big and helpful changes to the Events Feed module. This includes a totally new responsive layout system with Grid, List, and Cover layouts. This also includes new content options, new Callout options, and so much more.
NOTE: Previous Layout Options Will Default To Grid
In the previous versions, the layouts were similar to some of the new ones, but we have totally rebuild this with three new layouts – Grid, List, and Cover – and this requires us to choose a default. Unfortunately, this means that whichever layout you used before, it will now be Grid when you update. You may like this. Or you may want to explore the three layouts more and decided you like some other options. Or you can set it back very much like it was before. Either way, to play it safe, please carefully check your events modules after the update, as more than likely something will need adjusted.
Image Left, Details Right – this layout will automatically change to the new Grid layout. To get this same layout back, simply go the Events Feed settings, to the Design tab, to the Layout toggle. Change the layout to List. Then change the List Type to Image, Details.

A Note ABout Making The Changes
You may be alarmed to see the layout change, but stay calm! A few clicks and you are done. The end result is better!Â
Keep in mind if a site is built well, this should only take a few minutes at the most – in reality, less than a minute. We do assume to some level that the standard Divi procedures will be used. For example, using the tools Divi offers like the Theme Builder, global modules, copy/past, presets, etc., this change can be accomplished in a matter of minutes.
âš Review The Calendar Module
We do not anticipate the same trouble with this module as we do with the Events Feed module. That’s because this module’s main structure still remains, even though we have basically doubled or trippled the features and functionality. So we highly recommend reviewing the modules on your site, and if needed, follow the same steps as mentioned with the Events Feed module above.
âš Check Add To Calendar Buttons
We changed the way the add to calendar buttons work. Instead of the old Google Calendar and iCal Export buttons, we now have one main button called Add To Calendar. When that is clicked, three more options can appear as links:
- Google Calendar
- Apple Calendar
- Outlook Calendar
If you were using the old method, this will need to be adjusted for the new and improved method. We truly believe this will be a much better user experience!
HELP! I see orange errors in the Events Page module!
Some users panicked and reported this, but this is actually just a cache issue, and I can tell you exactly how to clear it. Please go to the Theme Builder to the Events Page module and in each one just make sure to turn off the unwanted Add To Calendar button and links. Then exit the template, refresh the page, and the cache will clear.
Keep in mind you can always edit any module in Divi that has the orange error by going to the Wireframe mode. You may need to use that to edit the modules to turn off the unwanted buttons and links.
Familiarize Yourself With All The New Features
We can’t stress enough how important it is to get familiar with the new update. If you have not done so yet, please take a few minutes and review the version 2.1 update post and video to get a great overview of everything. We spend a huge amount of work, time, effort, and money on this update, and it is very big. We want you to take advantage of it!
