Troubleshooting
If you are facing a technical issue with the Divi Events Calendar, please check the troubleshooting steps listed below. If the outcome of following the steps below points to an issue with our plugin specifically, please send us a support message. When you reach out for support, we will ask about the results of these troubleshooting steps to better understand and resolve the issue.
👉 General Troubleshooting Steps
Step 1: Deactivate All Plugins Except Divi Events Calendar
When troubleshooting an issue with our plugin, it’s essential to determine whether there is a conflict with another plugin. To do this, please deactivate all other plugins on your site, leaving only the Divi Events Calendar active (and The Events Calendar since our plugin is dependent on their plugin). If deactivating the other plugins resolves the issue, it indicates a conflict with one of them.
To identify which plugin is causing the conflict, start by reactivating each plugin one at a time. After reactivating each plugin, refresh the page to check if the issue still happens. Continue this process until you find the plugin that triggers the problem.
Once you’ve identified the conflicting plugin, please let us know the details so we can provide further assistance.
If the issue is still happening with only our plugin active, it suggests the problem may not be related to a conflict and will require further investigation.
Step 2: Deactivate Our Divi Events Calendar Plugin
Please temporarily deactivate the Divi Events Calendar to confirm whether our plugin is causing the issue. While this may seem counterintuitive, it is an important step to verify if the problem is related to our plugin.
This step is particularly important due to the way Divi, The Events Calendar, and Divi Events Calendar work together. If you’re experiencing issues such as events not displaying in our modules, problems editing or publishing event pages in The Events Calendar, theme builder issues in Divi, or issues with calendar subscriptions, it’s crucial to follow this step.
By deactivating our plugin, you can compare if the issue happens in the default display of the events in The Events Calendar when our modules are not in use. Please disable any relevant Divi Theme Builder template used on the events archive or single event pages to reveal the default display from The Events Calendar. This comparison helps to identify if the core issue lies within The Events Calendar itself, or only within our modules.
If the issue persists after deactivating our plugin, it suggests that our plugin is not the cause. Conversely, if the problem only occurs when our plugin is active, it indicates that our plugin might be involved and will require further investigation.
Your Save Has Failed
As a Divi user, you may sometimes encounter a popup in the Visual Builder saying “Your Save Has Failed” after clicking the save button. Occasionally, we have our own customers who assume this issue is related to our plugin, but it actually is not. We have created a very thorough resource about how to fix the your save has failed issue on our blog, and we encourage you to check it and follow the tips to resolve this issue.
Site Loads Slow When The Events Calendar PRO Is Active
Occasionally, we receive support requests about a situation where having both The Events Calendar PRO and Divi Events Calendar active causes the website to load slowly. Disabling either our Divi Events Calendar or The Events Calendar PRO resolves the issue, but what should you do?
This problem is typically related to “recurring events” or database issues associated with them. One customer reported having 74 recurring events without end dates, resulting in The Events Calendar generating 350 instances per event—over 25,000 events in total! This overload caused a 15-second load time. If you encounter a similar issue, check your recurring events for proper end dates. The problem is likely not with our plugin but with the excessive number of events being loaded. Our module may appear to be the culprit, but it is also trying to handle the vast number of events created by The Events Calendar.
Icons Not Showing In Details
If the icons are missing from the event details, this is likely due to a known conflict with Divi’s Performance features. To resolve this, follow these steps:
- Navigate to Divi > Theme Options > General.
- Open the Performance tab.
- Disable the Dynamic Icons setting.
This should restore the icons in the event details.
More Info Button Position Issue
We head of a rare issue with the More Info button position having too much space above it. The issue is caused by the Smush optimization plugin. If you have the Smush plugin installed, please disable their lazy loading feature.
The organizer or venue checkboxes change selection when a new organizer or venue is created
If you display events by organizer or venue by selecting the checkboxes for each one, you may encounter a regrettable issue in Divi. This is not a bug in our module but rather a limitation in the core Divi integration with WordPress, which we are subsequently affected by. This issue will only happen if you create a new organizer or venue on the site and when their placement in the list is alphabetically before the already selected organizers. It is a bit confusing, but when a new organizer or venue is added, it bumps all the checkboxes down one item in the module. In this situation, you must update the checkbox selections each time a new organizer is added. We understand how frustrating this is, but there is nothing we can do about it at this time. This also happens in other plugins and modules, and is not specific to ours.
Events Taking Long To Load In Events Calendar Module
Issue
We recently had several customers with the same issue – events were either not loading, or were loading after 10 seconds in the Events Calendar module. The answer is very simple. The one customer had 1,300 events, and the other had 2,983. They were showing all of those events in the calendar, which means that when you load the page, all of those events also try to load including the details and featured images of every event on the site. If the images are not optimized, you can imagine how much loading needs to take place! Even if they are optimized, do the math. It could be a lot of MBs and GBs of data! So that obviously explains why it may take long for events to load.
Solution
This is exactly why we already introduced settings to solve this in version 2.1. First enable the Limit Past/Future Events toggle, then two settings will appear to limit the number of events that show in the past and future. By default, the setting limits events to only showing 1 month in the past and 6 months in the future.
Events Not Showing In Events Calendar Module
If you are adding our Events Calendar module, but there are no events showing, the first thing to check is if there is an issue in The Events Calendar. To do this, go to the default /events/ URL of your site. This is the default event archive page where you will see the output from The Events Calendar. If you are using this page with our module and the Theme Builder template, you will need to temporarily deactivate our Divi Events Calendar plugin to check this.
If there are no events showing in the output from The Events Calendar, then this check confirms the issue is not in our modules, but something else with their plugin, and you will need to contact The Events Calendar support.
If the events show in their output but not in our, be sure to double-check the settings in the modules. It’s easy to accidentally adjust settings and maybe there are no events that match your selected criteria.
In most cases, if events are not showing, you will find an error in the browser Console that provides clues about the issue. For example, you might see an error mentioning “admin-ajax.” If you encounter this, feel free to contact us so we can assist you in resolving it.
Recently, a customer reported a 404 error appearing in the Console. Upon investigation, we discovered the issue was related to their hosting server. Specifically, a ModSecurity setting was enabled, which blocked certain elements from being displayed, including events. If you encounter a 404 error, it often indicates a server-related issue, such as a security configuration or file read/write permissions being blocked. This is not normal behavior, and we recommend reaching out to your hosting provider’s support team to resolve it.
Cut-Off Tooltips in the Events Calendar Module
If you notice that the tooltips in the Events Calendar module are being cut off, this is likely due to the overflow setting in the row or module being set to “hidden.” This commonly occurs when a border radius is applied, which can automatically set overflow to hidden.
How to Fix:
- Go to the Advanced tab in the row or module settings.
- Find the Visibility toggle.
- Ensure the Vertical Overflow and Horizontal Overflow options are manually set to “Visible.”
This will allow the tooltips to display properly without being cut off. Be sure to check both the row and module settings to avoid any conflicts.
Events Calendar Displays Fullwidth Without Styling After Exiting Builder
After designing the calendar with the Events Calendar module in the Divi Builder and exiting, the calendar may unexpectedly display fullwidth on the page without any styling. Although it’s rare, the problem seems to be related to how the module interacts with the section when copied.
To resolve this issue:
- Add a New Section: Create a new section on the page where you want the calendar to display.
- Move the Events Calendar Module: Drag and drop the Events Calendar module from the problematic section into the newly added section.
- Save and Exit the Builder: After making these adjustments, save the changes and exit the Divi Builder. The calendar should now display correctly with the proper styling.
Single Event Page Details Not Showing
If you are having issues with details such as the event title, featured image, description, or other items not showing, this means you have a wrong setting in The Events Calendar.
When using The Events Calendar with Divi, you need to have the single event pages set to the correct template. You can check this setting by going to Events>Settings>Display>Events template. Make sure the dropdown is set to “Default Events Template.”

Any other option will not work and is not correct. Please make sure to check this setting before contacting us, as this is a very common issue.
NOTE: We also heard that sometimes you may need to re-save the setting even if it was already selected!
All Event Pages Are Showing The Same Event
If you are seeing the same event details on all single event pages, this is not related to our module. It means you have changed a setting in The Events Calendar.
I get this question at least once a week. When creating a Theme Builder template, and optionally adding our Events Page module, users report that the events are all showing the same event or that the post title is not showing. This is not our problem, actually. This is 100% related to how The Events Calendar works.
Please Make Sure You Are Using The Correct Setting!
When using The Events Calendar with Divi, you need to have the single event pages set to the correct template. By default when you install The Events Calendar, it is correct, so I am honestly not sure how/why so many people have changed this setting. You can double-check this setting by going to Events>Settings>Display>Events template. Make sure the dropdown is set to “Default Events Template.”
Any other option will not work and is not correct. Please make sure to check this setting before contacting us. So far, this has been the solution every time someone has asked about anything related to the single event page display.
Event Pages Are Showing Wrong Description
Sometimes, we have encountered an unusual problem where the event details are not displayed correctly when using the Post Content module (from Divi). In the instances when this issue has arisen, we have suggested avoiding the use of the Post Content module and instead utilizing the description feature in our Events Page module, which has consistently resolved the issue. If you are experiencing this issue, we recommend removing the Post Content module and enabling the Show Description in our Events Page module instead, as this should resolve the issue.
Explanation Of Missing Post Content Module
You may encounter a message that pops up saying there is a “Missing Post Content Module.” When this happens, don’t worry! It is not serious, it actually just a false notice that can be easily explained.
The missing post content module is notice that pops up whenever you do add a Post Content Module inside the Theme Builder template. Basically, the way Divi templates work, the Theme Builder template looks for content from each event so that it can display the details dynamically on the frontend. The notice that appears is simply part of Divi and it is not related to our Divi Events Calendar plugin.
Whenever you use the Divi Theme Builder and The Events Calendar to create a template for events, you can simply use the Post Content module that comes in Divi and it will work great. But if you choose instead to use our Events Page module, and do not add a Post Content module, this is when the notice appears. Divi get’s confused, because normally it thinks a Post Content module is necessary, otherwise how would it show any content? But in our case, the Events Page module handles the content, so the Post Content module is technically not needed anymore.
Our Events Page module has an option called “Show Description” under the Content Tab in the Elements toggle. This setting is used to show the description of each event, meaning the text that you write when editing the actual event in the backend. This is one option, and this is intended for simple applications of text descriptions. Again, this is when the popup notice can appear. If so, just dismiss and ignore it.
The second option is to just use the Post Content module inside the Theme Builder template for the event description. Adding the Post Content Module will not only fix the missing Post Content module issue, but it will also provide you the ability to enable the Divi Builder on individual events and build the description with Divi layouts and modules instead of just simple text.
Presets Causing Issues
We have noticed that Divi Presets do not work well with 3rd party modules such as our Events Calendar module. Please note that using a preset for this module may cause styling issues, so test accordingly if you need to use one, and please test without a preset to see if this is related to any styling issue you may face.
Conflict with AIO SEO Plugin
You may encounter issues with the display of events in our Events Feed module when the All In One SEO Pro plugin is active. The issue is caused by the AIO SEO plugin, which, unfortunately, has a compatibility problem with Divi. Specifically, AIO SEO modifies the suffix numbering that Divi uses for its sections, rows, and modules.
- How Divi Works: Divi assigns suffixes starting with
_0
, followed by_1
,_2
, and so on, ensuring consistent identification across modules. - What AIO SEO Does: Instead of starting with
_0
, AIO SEO resets the numbering at_1
. This unexpected behavior disrupts Divi’s module structure and causes conflicts, particularly with modules like our Events Feed, which depend on accurate suffixes to function correctly.
Unfortunately, this is not an issue with our plugin but rather a symptom caused by the modifications AIO SEO makes. We’ve encountered similar reports from other customers using AIO SEO, and we hope the AIO SEO team will address this compatibility problem soon.
Next Steps:
- Consider temporarily deactivating AIO SEO to confirm if it resolves the issue.
- If the problem persists, please contact the AIO SEO support team to report the conflict and request a fix.

Do I need the pro version of The Events Calendar?
What is the difference between your plugin and theirs?
We get a lot of questions from people that are confused about the relationship of our Divi Events Calendar plugin to The Events Calendar plugin. We often get questions about the pro version, tickets, payments, bulk import, bulk import, addons, etc. but we have to remind people that we are not The Events Calendar, and we are not affiliated with them.
If you are interested in learning more about their Pro features, please click here to see all the features (affiliate link).
Both our Divi Events Calendar and The Events Calendar go hand-in-hand together. The Events Calendar needs to be installed first for our Divi Events Calendar to work. This is because they work together, and our plugin relies on theirs.
The Events Calendar is the core of the actual event info and management. Their plugin handles anything related to the events themselves, including anything related to tickets, payments, or other addons that they offer. Our Divi Events Calendar plugin adds new custom Divi event modules to the Divi Builder.
Our plugin modules pull in the data for the events and gives you the familiar Divi module interface with all our custom settings and features you need to display and style events in any Divi Builder layout.
Without our plugin, there is no way to use The Events Calendar in Divi. In fact, they don’t even offer shortcodes in their free version, so if you use Divi, our plugin is the only solution, and it’s a good one!
Keep in mind our modules are totally separate from anything their pro version has to display events. On any given page you can either use their display, or our modules. You can’t pick and choose which parts of their plugin and which parts of our modules you want on the same page.
PLEASE CHECK OUR COMPATIBILITY PAGE
Are your modules compatible with The Events Calendar PRO?
Yes, but of course that depends on what you are expecting. Our plugin works perfectly fine with their pro version for a very simple reason: most of the pro features of their plugin have to do with event management. For example, the pro version has features like syncing with Facebook or Google Calendar, RSVP and tickets, community events, etc. These pro features do not affect the actual event data that our modules display (title, image, date, time, etc.).
The original intent of our plugin was to make it easy to display events in Divi, not to make it work with every feature of their plugin. But we do continue to add features that users request.
PLEASE CHECK OUR COMPATIBILITY PAGE
Can I mix The Events Calendar plugin or paid addons with your modules?
The event display from The Events Calendar is totally different and separate from the display our modules create. So for example, it would not work to add their Filter Bar addon and expect it to work with our modules. You would either use theirs or ours, it would not work to mix and match.
Can I customize the single event pages?
Yes, we are super excited to offer the first ever single event page builder for Divi and The Events Calendar. We introduced a new module specifically for this in our 2.0 update. This new module called Events Page has all the features you need to display the elements of the single event pages in a Divi Theme Builder template. You can learn more about this in our Events Page Module documentation. You may also be interested in a few other single event page design options.
How do I use Events Tickets Plus or other paid addons on single event pages?
This actually has nothing to do with our plugin — the question is actually about The Events Calendar and Divi, regardless if our plugin modules are used or not, since you would need to use shortcodes in the Divi Theme Builder template anyhow.
The answer to this question and many like it is simple – shortcodes! So head over to The Events Calendar Pro Shortcodes and find what you need and place them anywhere you want in the single events page. You can also check out our tutorial about How To Add Shortcodes In Divi.
PLEASE CHECK OUR COMPATIBILITY PAGE
Do your modules have language translation support?
Yes, we are gradually adding support for various translations upon request. Please see the Translation document for details.
Do your modules support recurring events?
The answer is yes, they do! But keep in mind that this question requires some context with how the events are handled. Recurring events are not available in The Events Calendar free version, only their Pro version. So to start, regardless if we support recurring events, you would need the Pro version of The Events Calendar to use them.
But yes, we have added full support for the Recurring Events feature of The Events Calendar Pro in our Divi Events Calendar 2.1. So now you can simply choose to show or hide recurring events in the Events Feed module and in the Events Calendar module.
Why is my plugin different from what is shown in your video?
The Nature Of Video Documentation
We keep releasing updates, new features, and improvements to this plugin. Because of this, videos become outdated quickly due to the nature of the format. There’s nothing we can do about that except ask you to always check the documentation section of our website here for all the most accurate and up-to-date information about the plugin.
The Module Names
When we first released this plugin we had only one module which was named “Divi Events Calendar.” When we started adding additional modules, we knew we needed to have a better naming convention.
In some of our older videos, you may see the original module. Please note that this original module was renamed “Events Feed” after we added the calendar view module which is named “Events Calendar.”
Does this work with the Divi Builder PLUGIN, or just the THEME?
Yes, our plugin is compatible with the Divi Builder plugin by Elegant Themes. However, this question and answer requires some important context.
Our plugin integrates The Events Calendar with Divi. It does this partially by taking advantage of the amazing Divi Them Builder, the feature in Divi that allows you to create templates. So even though our plugin would work fine with only the Divi Builder plugin, it would be severely limited since their plugin does not include the Theme Builder (of course). So you would miss out on things such as setting the main /events/ slug archive page, creating dynamic event category pages, and designing dynamic templates for the single event pages.
If you just want a simple events feed or calendar on your pages, then yes, that would work fine. But for the other things mentioned here, you would need to be using the Divi Theme.
Does this work with Advanced Custom Fields (ACF)?
That very much depends on what the question is about. Does the Advanced Custom Fields plugin work with Divi? Absolutely, ACF with The Divi Theme Builder and dynamic content are great companions! Do our custom event modules display the fields from ACF? No. But remember, you can certainly use ACF with Divi on single event pages, but it would not have anything to do with our modules.
How does the date and time format work?
Our modules automatically use the same event date and time formats as set in your WordPress General settings. You can choose to override those in The Events Calendar settings as well, and our will reflect it. Even further, our modules all have date format and time format settings as well, giving you very granular control over the display.
To learn more about date and time formats, I highly recommend reading this article from Elegant Themes.
Note that the start and end time in our module works the same as in The Events Calendar. If you only want to show the start time, then set the same date/time for both start time and end time in the event settings.
Note that you should double-check the date and time format settings in WordPress>Settings>General and the “End of day cutoff” time in The Events Calendar settings. If the end of day cutoff is set wrong, dates will sometimes be off a day, depending on their start and end times.
Does the Events Filter module work with the Events Calendar module?
The Events Filter module is specifically designed for use with the Events Feed module and is not compatible with the Events Calendar module. The Events Calendar module displays events in a monthly format similar to the calendar app on your phone or a physical wall calendar, showing the entire month at a glance. Considering this display style, it is unclear how a filter feature would function effectively. Currently, our system does not support this feature, and I do not see its practicality unless there’s an aspect I’m overlooking.
Why are events not showing on mobile in The Events Calendar module?
- Keep in mind, you can still click on the event to view the details in the tooltip popup.
- If you want alternative options, we suggest setting the view to “List” instead of “Month” on Phone using the responsive options in the setting.
- Another option is to use the visibility settings in Divi to hide the Events Calendar module on Phone, and instead show an Events Feed module (and hide it on Desktop and Tablet).
Can I use more than one Events Calendar module per page?
Due to the nature of the plugin, you can only use one Events Calendar module per page. If more than one is added, then only the first will show. It is very uncommon that you would need more than one anyhow.
Why are thumbnails not showing in the Events Calendar module?
If you are using the setting to show the featured images as thumbnails in the “Month” view of the calendar, but they are not showing, please first check if the events are multi-day events or recurring events. It is not possible to show an image in these scenarios. The thumbnail will only display for regular events within a single day.
Is the plugin GDPR compliant?
The Divi Events Calendar plugin uses a Content Delivery Network (CDN) to quickly deliver scripts, which enhances your website’s performance. However, if you are in a region that requires GDPR compliance, the plugin offers an alternative option to enable local code instead of relying on the CDN.
To activate this feature, go to the settings for the Events Feed module, Events Carousel module, and Events Calendar module. Scroll down to the “Admin Label” toggle, where you’ll find a new setting labeled “Use Locally Hosted Files (GDPR).” When you enable this setting, the JavaScript code needed for the plugin to function will run locally instead of being loaded from the CDN.
