This video provides a brief summary overview of the written steps outlined in the document below. You are welcome to follow the video and written steps together.
1. Install Divi
Our Divi Responsive Helper plugin is a 3rd party addon for the Divi Theme by Elegant Themes, so having Divi installed and active is a prerequisite for installing and using our product. Please ensure you are on the latest version for the best compatibility.Disclosure: The link to Elegant Themes is an "affiliate link" which means if you click on the link and purchase anything, we will receive a commission.
2. Login And Download Divi Responsive Helper
After completing the purchase, log into your account from the top right corner of the website. You can access your downloads by clicking on the Orders tab and then the View Order button, or by clicking on the Downloads tab. Click on the plugin name to download the plugin and save the file to your computer.
Divi Marketplace Customers: If you purchased this plugin from the Divi Marketplace, you can download the product from your Elegant Themes members area.
3. Install The Plugin
Now that you have Divi installed, and the plugin downloaded, you are ready to install the Divi Responsive Helper plugin. Installing our plugin works the same as installing any other WordPress plugin. From your WordPress Dashboard, go to Appearance>Plugins>Add New and click on Upload Plugin. Locate the plugin .zip file on your computer, which selects the file to up, and click Install Now. Once the file upload is finished, you can click on Activate.Divi Marketplace Customers: If you previously purchased this plugin from the Divi Marketplace, but later purchased it directly from our websiter, you will need to take one additional step of downloading the plugin file from our website and installing it on your site, overriding the file from Divi Marketplace. You can learn more about this in our Divi Marketplace customers guide.
Divi 4 vs. Divi 5
The Divi Responsive Helper plugin is now fully compatible with Divi 5 while continuing to work as before with Divi 4. The same plugin file available to download in your account works on whichever version of the Divi theme you are using. You can learn more in our Divi 5 Compatibility Guide. Keep in mind that some of our docs and screenshots may seem confusing, depending on whether you use Divi 4 or 5, but the main functionality is the same. We are doing our best to document everything properly during this transition period.
4. Add Your License Key
After installing and activating the plugin, the next step is to add the plugin license key. This allows your site to communicate with our servers to ensure that you get automatic updates and support. You can find your license keys by going to the License Keys tab in your account and clicking the relevant plugin name. This will bring you to the page where you can view, copy, add, deactivate, and delete license keys. Please check our full License Key Management guide for more information.
Divi Marketplace Customers: If you purchased from Divi Marketplace, then there is no license key to add since updates and support for the plugin are validated using your Elegant Themes account. So take a moment to be sure you have the proper Username and API key credentials added in the Divi> Theme Options> Updates tab in your website. Again, there is no additional license key to enter for this product since it is handled entirely by your Elegant Themes account credentials. You can refer to the Divi Marketplace Customer FAQs for more information.
5. Get Familiar With The Features
Now that the plugin is installed, you can move on to the exciting part: exploring the wide range of features Divi Responsive Helper offers!
Browse The Settings List
The Settings List provides a complete list of the plugin’s settings and features, along with brief explanations for each. It also displays a small badge with the version number when each setting was introduced. The settings list is intended to provide a reliable reference for each included setting, while other full docs are meant to guide you on how to use the features.
Access The Settings
The plugin’s settings are distributed across three main areas, each thoughtfully placed for different purposes and convenience. Take your time to familiarize yourself with these areas to make the most of the plugin’s capabilities.
Backend Global Settings
Some settings make more sense to be accessed and enabled globally, based on what they do and where their features are applied.
- If you are using our plugin with Divi 4, you can access these additional settings in the WordPress backend by going to Divi > Theme Options > Divi Responsive Helper. There, you will see subtabs to configure various options. Feel free to look around and adjust what you need.
- If you are using our plugin with Divi 5, you can access the settings from the WordPress backend by going to Pee-Aye Creative > Divi Responsive Helper. There, you will see tabs on the left and icons on the top bar. Feel free to look around and get familiar with the options available here, as this will serve as the hub for everything related to our plugin. To learn more about our standardized backend plugin interface, please visit the blog post.
Note that settings are not enabled by default, so you can selectively enable and configure the options relevant to your site.
Divi Builder Columns And Modules
Some of the settings are integrated directly into the existing Divi Builder rows, columns, and modules. This approach is unique to us at Pee-Aye Creative because we focus on adding extra features within the native context of the Divi builder instead of creating new modules. When our plugin is activated and the relevant settings are enabled in the backend global settings, those features will automatically appear in their respective locations within the Dvii Builder.
Suggested Next Steps
At this point, you can start using the plugin. To make sure you get the most out of this plugin, we put together the most important next steps and essential tips. Some of these will depend on your site setup and vary based on the unique needs of each scenario.
Enable The Features You Need
Every site has different needs, but here are some of the main features our users typically enable and use.
Set Default Responsive Breakpoint Values (And Availability In Divi 5)
After installation, you may want to adjust your default responsive breakpoints so new layouts start with the screen sizes and breakpoint availability you prefer.
Automatically Prevent Widow Words In Divi Headings And Paragraph Text
If you notice awkward single words wrapping on their own line, enabling widow word prevention can quickly clean up headings and text across your layouts.
Easily Apply Responsive Custom CSS For Any Device Size In Divi
When built-in options are not enough, the responsive custom CSS feature lets you target specific devices or screen ranges with your own styles.
Set Default Section And Row Spacing Across All Divi Breakpoints
To keep layouts consistent from the start, consider configuring default section and row spacing so padding values are applied automatically at each breakpoint.
Easily Manage Default Row Width And Max Width Across All Divi Breakpoints
If you want more control over layout width behavior, setting default row width values can help standardize designs across different screen sizes.
Set Different Column And Item Count For Modules On Each Device
For better balance and performance, you can fine-tune layouts by adjusting module column and item counts separately for each device.
Control Column Stacking And Number Of Columns Per Row On Each Device
When layouts feel cramped or ordered incorrectly on smaller screens, enabling row column stacking control allows you to define both column order and count per device.
Improve Menu Control Across WordPress And Divi
To refine navigation behavior, explore responsive menu controls that affect WordPress menus, the Divi Menu module, and the default Divi header.
Always Follow Our Documentation
