Responsive design in Divi 5 is more powerful than ever, but with that power comes a new challenge: content can now change per breakpoint automatically, often without a clear visual warning. A quick text edit on Tablet, a small image tweak on Phone, or even an accidental edit in Hover state can quietly apply only to that context, leaving content inconsistent across devices.
We have seen this confusion come up again and again in the Divi community, and we have felt it ourselves while building real sites.
That is why we are excited to release a major new update to Divi Responsive Helper, focused entirely on making responsive content editing safer, clearer, and more intentional in Divi 5.
▶️ Please watch the video above to get all the exciting details! 👆
Prevent Accidental Responsive Content Editing
Divi Responsive Helper now gives you the ability to disable inline content editing on selected breakpoints, so content changes only happen where you expect them to.
Instead of worrying about whether a text edit applies globally or only to the current breakpoint, you can lock content editing on Phone, Tablet, Wide breakpoints, or any combination you choose. When disabled, content fields are grayed out and unavailable, preventing accidental breakpoint-specific changes while still allowing intentional responsive styling.
This restores a more predictable editing workflow, especially when you are simply fixing copy or updating content.
Prevent Accidental Responsive Content Editing
Divi Responsive Helper now gives you the ability to disable inline content editing on selected breakpoints, so content changes only happen where you expect them to.
Instead of worrying about whether a text edit applies to all breakpoints or only to the current breakpoint, you can restrict content editing on Phone, Tablet, Wide breakpoints, or any combination you choose. When disabled, content fields are grayed out and unavailable, preventing accidental breakpoint-specific changes while still allowing intentional responsive styling.
This restores a more predictable editing workflow, especially when you are simply fixing copy or updating content.
Disable Hover State Content Editing
Divi’s Hover state is powerful, but editing content while in Hover can be risky. Changes made there can affect the front end without it being immediately obvious, which can lead to frustrating surprises.
With this update, you can disable content editing while viewing the Hover state, ensuring that Hover is used for styling and interaction only, not accidental content changes.
Control Editing Inside the Responsive Editor Window
For users who use the Responsive Editor popup window to adjust settings per breakpoint in Divi 5, our Divi Responsive Helper adds an additional layer of control.
You can now decide, per breakpoint, how content fields behave inside the Responsive Editor:
- Leave them available as normal
- Gray them out with a clear visual disabled cue
- Hide them entirely
This makes it much easier to guide editors, protect content, and avoid confusion when working across multiple device sizes.
Improve Clarity Inside Divi’s Responsive Editor
Responsive editing should be clear at a glance. This update dramatically improves the usability of Divi’s Responsive Editor by adding:
- Clear breakpoint labels next to each field, such as “Desktop – Body” or “Tablet Wide – Body”
- Visual highlighting of the active breakpoint using the builder’s accent color
- An optional “Current” badge to instantly show which breakpoint is active
These improvements make it immediately obvious what you are editing, where it applies, and why, reducing mistakes and speeding up your workflow.
Built for Real Divi 5 Workflows
This update is not about adding complexity. It is about protecting content, reducing surprises, and making responsive editing feel intentional again.
Whether you are building client sites, working in a team, or just tired of chasing down why content looks different on mobile, these new Responsive Content Editing tools help you stay in control.
This is a major step forward for Divi Responsive Helper, and it reinforces our goal of filling the small but critical gaps that appear as Divi continues to evolve.
The update is available now. We cannot wait for you to try it.

It truly is the ultimate Divi responsive toolkit!

Excellent tutorial, Nelson. Thanks for finding a good solution to a persistent problem.
This tutorial could be quite a bit more effective if you would SHOW EXAMPLES of before and after, with screenshots of what happens that’s a problem, and “after” screenshots showing how it is fixed.
Also, for people who are not yet fluent in Divi and developing responsive sites, it would help to define up front what you mean by “break points” and “Wide break points.”. This will answer whatever questions newer users might have about these terms.
Keep up the good work.
Hi David,
Did you watch the video? It literally starts out doing exactly what you described 🙂 Also, you may find our docs for this feature helpful, as we do show before and after there, take a look here: https://www.peeayecreative.com/docs/divi-responsive-helper/responsive-content-editing/
It would be very difficult to show how the breakpoint actually works in a graphic, but open to suggestions on how to visualize that. Great feedback on giving definitions.
Hi Nelson,
I’ve already spent a lot of time trying to fix this ‘problem’ with Divi 5. This feature in Divi Responsive Helper is fantastic. It shows me once again that you really understand the problems Divi 5 users are having and that you’re finding solutions. Thank you so much!
BR Klaus.
Hi Klaus, you are welcome! I am so glad to hear you love this new feature! We spent a lot of time making it and it’s so nice to hear good feedback!
