First, A Funny Story How This Tutorial Came To Be…
Often when I scroll through Divi Facebook groups looking to help others, I see posts about this old pesky random hard-to-describe issue with the text editor Visual tab. I think all of us have faced it at one time or another. So I was literally thinking about writing a tutorial about how to solve this exact issue, and lamenting that it never happens to me anymore. Sad! And suddenly it happened while writing a different tutorial, I kid you not! I started laughing, amused that I hit the jackpot. My wife was upstairs with the girls, wondering what was so funny. I turned on my camera and screen recorder and quickly made the video and solved it live and in real time for you. So here we go, here is how to fix this HTML issue with the Divi text editor.

The Problem
Here is how the text editor looks when you face this issue. The Visual tab changes to this small, odd, HTML box. Normally the HTML is in the Text tab, so you know immediately that something is wrong.

This is how it should look, and how it will look for you in about 10 seconds:

It’s Cache.
Just clear your cache. While in the Visual Builder, press Control/Shift/R to do a hard refresh. The builder will reload, and the issue should be cleared. If not, try exiting the builder, do another hard refresh, then open the builder again. If it still is not resolved, follow the steps in the tutorial linked below.
All done.Â

We have a full guide on how to clear cache on your Divi website, so be sure to reference that, especially if the issue persists, meaning you need to try clearing cache in more places, or if you just want to learn more.
