Introduction
Many of you have started to use Divi 5, and it’s great! But that greatness comes with some learning curves, and a lot of new options, settings, panels, icons, and a general feeling of overwhelm.
If you have been using Divi 4 for a while, you will notice some big changes. It is faster, looks more modern, and works slightly different than before.
With all these new features, the editing interface is now more powerful, but it can also feel a bit more complicated, especially if you are just getting started.
That’s exactly why we created the Divi Builder Experience Helper plugin. It lets you choose exactly what each user sees in the Divi 5 builder. You can personalize everything for yourself, your team members, or your clients.

Divi 5 Is More Powerful Than Ever
If you have been using Divi 4 for a while, Divi 5 will feel new and different. The layout looks different, some things work in new ways, and there are more options in the menus. If you are just starting out, all these choices might seem a bit much at first. That is normal. It just means Divi is growing and giving us more ways to build our sites.
As Divi gets better, it gives us more options and more ways to customize things right inside the builder. This flexibility is what makes Divi so useful, not just for pros but for anyone who wants to build a great website.
But with more flexibility comes new things to think about. If you are building sites for clients or working with a team, how Divi works is just as important as what it can do. When you are working alone, all these options can be a big help. But if you are working with others, it helps to set up clear rules and structure so everyone stays on the same page.
Divi 5 gives us more tools than ever. Now it is up to us to decide how to use those tools in a way that works best for our own projects and teams.
A Smarter Way To Control The Divi 5 Builder
Divi 5 is a big step forward and gives us more flexibility than ever. But out of the box, it doesn’t let you customize the editing experience for different users or situations. Everyone sees the same interface and has the same controls, no matter their role or what they need to do.
For a lot of people, that’s totally fine. But if you work with teams or clients, you know that not everyone should have the same level of access or see the same options. Training people to use the builder a certain way can help, but it’s not always enough or easy to manage.
That’s where having a smarter, more intentional way to control the Divi 5 builder really makes a difference.
Introducing Divi Builder Experience Helper
With Divi Builder Experience Helper, you get to decide how the Divi 5 builder looks and works to fit your own workflow. You do not have to settle for a one-size-fits-all setup. Instead, you can make the builder work the way you and your team actually use it every day.

Customize & Control The Divi 5 Builder UI/UX
Create a faster, simpler, and personalized Divi editing environment for you, your team, and clients with our Divi Builder Experience Helper.
Build Custom Workspaces For Different Users
The main idea here is something called a workspace. Think of a workspace as a set of settings that decides what someone can see, what they can change, and how the builder works for them. You can set up different workspaces for different people, whether that’s by their user role or just for a specific person.
For example, you might want to give your content editors a simple workspace with just the basics, while your designers or developers get all the tools they need. If you have clients, you can set things up so they only see what they need to safely make updates, without worrying about breaking anything.
So when someone opens up the Divi 5 builder, they are not just getting a one-size-fits-all setup. Instead, they see a version of the builder that’s been set up just for them, making things easier and less overwhelming.
What You Can Control Inside The Divi 5 Builder
When you start using workspaces, you’ll quickly see how much more freedom you have. You’re not stuck with the default setup anymore. You get to decide how the builder looks, what options are available, and how people use it.
This kind of control means you can really make Divi 5 work for you. Whether you’re working solo, with a team, or building sites for clients, you can set things up to fit the way you like to work.
Control What Users Can Edit
One of the key features is the ability to control exactly what users can edit within modules.
You can hide entire tabs like Design or Advanced, or even get more specific by turning off certain groups of settings inside those tabs. This way, you can take away styling controls for some users, or just show them the options they actually need for their job.
For example, if you have a content editor, they probably just need to see the text and basic content fields. You can hide everything else, like spacing, colors, or animations. This keeps things simple for them and helps avoid any accidental changes that might mess up your design.
Control What Can Be Added To The Layout
Beyond editing controls, you can also define what users are allowed to add when building layouts.
If you want, you can hide certain sections, rows, or even specific modules so they can’t be added at all. You can also move your favorite modules to the top of the list or pin the ones you use most often. This makes it much easier to help users pick the right options without any confusion.
If you’re working in an agency environment, this is a real time-saver. You don’t have to keep explaining what’s okay to use and what isn’t. The builder does the work for you by only showing the options that fit your standards.
Control How The Builder Behaves
With Divi 5, you’ll notice the builder feels a lot more dynamic, especially when it comes to things like saving your work, previewing changes, or exiting the builder.
Thanks to workspaces, you get to decide how these important actions behave so they fit the way you like to work. Maybe you want to keep things simple with fewer dropdowns, or maybe you prefer to tweak the default settings to make your workflow smoother. It’s all about making Divi work for you.
This is a big help if you’re working with clients or team members who just want a straightforward, predictable editing experience. It takes the guesswork out and makes things easier for everyone.
Reducing Friction And Guiding Users
Making sure users only see what they need is just one piece of the puzzle. It’s just as important that the builder feels easy and comfortable to use every day. If the interface is cluttered or too complicated, it can slow you down, make things confusing, and cause mistakes, even if all the right options are there.
Workspaces let you clean up the builder by taking away anything you do not need and cutting down on distractions. When you only see the controls that matter for your work, everything feels easier and more focused. This means you can edit faster, avoid mistakes, and feel more confident as you build.
Simplify The Interface
Divi 5 comes packed with all sorts of controls, menus, and options. These tools are great, but let’s be honest, most of us don’t need to see every single thing all the time.
If you hide the extra stuff and tidy up the builder, you’ll find it much easier to get around. This is a big help for clients or team members who don’t use Divi every day. It keeps things simple, lowers the learning curve, and lets everyone focus on what they need to do.
Guide Users With Built-In Help
Besides making the interface easier to use, you can actually help users right inside the builder as they work.
With Workspaces, you can add your own help videos and step-by-step written instructions right where people need them most. This means you don’t have to keep sending out documentation or answering the same questions over and over. Instead, your users get the help they need, right when they need it.
If you run an agency, this can save you a lot of time on onboarding and support. Your clients will feel more confident and independent, since everything they need is right there in the builder. It just makes the whole experience smoother for everyone.
Create A More Predictable Workflow
When the interface is simplified and guidance is built in, the overall workflow becomes more predictable.
You’ll know exactly what you can do, where to find things, and how to make changes without second-guessing yourself. This is really helpful if you’re working with a team, since it keeps everything organized and avoids surprises.
Instead of you having to adjust to the builder every time, the builder actually fits the way you like to work.
Why This Matters For Professionals Using Divi 5
Divi 5 is a big leap forward for all of us using the platform. It runs faster, gives you more options, and lets you do things you simply could not do before. With all these new features, the way we work in the builder is changing too, and that can take some getting used to.
If you are just building a basic site for yourself, the default builder might be enough. But once you start working with clients or a team, or you need a more organized workflow, it really helps to be able to control what people see and do. Not everyone needs every option, and sometimes too much flexibility can actually slow things down.
This is exactly where Divi Builder Experience Helper comes in. With this tool, you can make the builder interface simpler, decide what users are allowed to do, and set up the builder to work the way you want. It uses workspaces to keep things organized. Instead of spending hours on training or writing up instructions, you can set things up once and let the builder do the work for you.
Some people just want a cleaner, simpler interface. Others need to protect their layouts, help clients avoid mistakes, or make sure everyone on the team follows the same process. Most of the time, it is a mix of all these needs.
Divi 5 lets you build just about anything you can imagine. Divi Builder Experience Helper gives you the tools to decide how that power gets used, so you stay in control.
If you use Divi for your business or with clients, setting up the builder the right way is not just a nice-to-have. It is a key part of making sure everyone has a smooth, reliable experience.

Very insightful approach. The “workspace” metaphor makes the rest of the article and the capabilities of the plug in quite clear.
As I was reading I was thinking of the one element it would be good to have.
We have the MEMBERS plugin – have as opposed to use to any degree. That plug in does not have the ability to limited (e.g.) an Editor (MEMBERS can create e.g. Editor-CFF) to a single or limited number of pages. I would love to have “Editor-CFF” have access of just the CFF page – and then train them on updates, etc.
Just a though for some future revision…. can the workspace idea be extended to PAGE and tied to a specific class of EDITOR?
Great tool – as always!
Hi George, I’m glad you like it. I didn’t fully understand which member plugin you use and how it relates to the Divi Builder, but you can absolutely set a workspace to apply to a specific user role, such as an editor! That’s a key part of the system. If you have any questions, please reach out by email and I’ll try to help.
