A Better Way To Migrate From Divi 4 To Divi 5
The default Divi 5 migration happens in a single screen with little guidance, making it difficult to understand what will happen and what to do next. The Divi Migration Helper provides a separate, guided interface that walks you through the entire process step by step, from preparing your site and checking compatibility to running the migration and reviewing detailed results.

Follow A Clear Divi 5 Migration Workflow
The default Divi 5 migration gives you one screen and leaves you to figure out the process on your own. The Divi Migration Helper replaces that with a structured workflow that guides you through each stage in the correct order, from preparing your site and checking compatibility to running the migration and reviewing the results. You always know where you are in the process and what to do next.

Understand What’s Happening At Every Step
Instead of running the migration without context, you can see exactly what will happen before you begin and understand the results afterward. The Divi Migration Helper gives you clear insight into compatibility, content conversion, and plugin impact, so you can make informed decisions and avoid surprises during and after the migration.
Prepare Your Site For A Safe Divi 5 Migration
Starting the Divi 5 migration without proper preparation can lead to unnecessary issues, confusion, and risk to your live site. Many users are unsure when to update Divi, whether their hosting environment is ready, or how to safely test the migration without affecting real users. Our Divi Migration Helper plugin solves this by guiding you through the essential preparation steps, including verifying your server meets requirements, creating a full backup, setting up a staging site, and ensuring you are running the latest version of Divi. It also helps you think through third-party plugin readiness so you can avoid preventable issues and approach the migration in a controlled and predictable way.
- Verify your server and environment are ready for Divi 5
- Backup your site and test the migration on a staging site
- Update Divi and consider third-party plugin readiness
Check Divi 5 Compatibility Before Starting Your Migration
One of the biggest challenges when moving to Divi 5 is not knowing how your existing content and third-party plugins will behave after migration. Without this visibility, you can run the migrator and only then discover that parts of your site are using backward compatibility mode or not fully benefiting from Divi 5. Our Divi Migration Helper plugin solves this by scanning your pages, templates, modules, and third-party plugins before you begin, clearly showing what is fully compatible and what will rely on compatibility mode. This allows you to understand the impact of your plugins and layouts ahead of time and make informed decisions before running the migration.
- Scan content and third-party plugins before starting the migration
- See which items are fully compatible or use backward compatibility mode
- Identify plugin-related impact before running the migrator
Understand Your Compatibility Report Before Migrating To Divi 5
Even when content is compatible with Divi 5, it is often unclear how it will actually behave after migration. Users are left wondering whether layouts will change, which items will rely on backward compatibility mode, and how much of their site will fully convert. This lack of clarity makes it difficult to plan or feel confident moving forward. Our Divi Migration Helper plugin solves this by showing how your content will be categorized after migration, clearly indicating what will fully convert and what will continue using backward compatibility mode so you know exactly what to expect before you begin.
- See how content will be categorized after migration
- Know what will fully convert or use compatibility mode
- Understand expected outcomes before migrating
Check Third-Party Plugin Compatibility With Divi 5
Third-party plugins are often the biggest unknown when migrating to Divi 5, as they may rely on hooks or modules that are not yet fully supported. Without visibility into this, users can experience unexpected behavior, find parts of their site running in compatibility mode, or move forward with a migration before key plugins are ready. Our Divi Migration Helper plugin solves this by identifying third-party plugins and modules that may impact compatibility, helping you understand their role in the migration and decide whether to proceed now or wait for updates. It also provides direct access to each plugin’s website so you can check for updates, documentation, or compatibility announcements as developers continue working toward full Divi 5 support.
- Identify plugins that may affect Divi 5 compatibility
- See how third-party modules impact migration results
- Access plugin websites to check updates and compatibility
See Which Divi 5 Content Will Use Backward Compatibility Mode
One of the most confusing aspects of migrating to Divi 5 is understanding which parts of your site will rely on backward compatibility mode and what that means before you even begin. Without this visibility, users may proceed with migration expecting everything to fully convert, only to later encounter compatibility indicators in the builder or notices in the admin bar without realizing why. Our Divi Migration Helper plugin solves this by clearly identifying which content will use backward compatibility mode before migrating, helping you set accurate expectations about what will not fully convert yet and what you will see after the migration is complete.
- See which content will use backward compatibility mode before migrating
- Know what will not fully convert to Divi 5 yet
- Set clear expectations for what you will encounter after migration
Follow A Guided Step-By-Step Divi 5 Migration Process
The default Divi 5 migration takes place in a single screen with little guidance and no clear sequence of steps, leaving users to figure out the process on their own. This makes it difficult to know what to do first, what comes next, and whether anything important is being missed. Our Divi Migration Helper plugin solves this by providing a separate step-by-step interface that walks you through the entire process in order, from preparing your site and checking compatibility to running the migration and reviewing detailed results, so you can follow a clear and structured path from start to finish.
- Replace the default single migration screen with a guided step-by-step process
- Follow the correct sequence from preparation through results
- Complete the entire migration in a separate structured interface
Review Detailed Divi 5 Migration Results For Each Content Type
After running the Divi 5 migration, the results can be difficult to interpret and often lack the structure needed to understand what actually happened across your site. Users may struggle to see which pages fully converted, which are using backward compatibility mode, and where attention is needed. Our Divi Migration Helper plugin solves this by organizing migration results into clear categories for each content type, such as pages, posts, Theme Builder templates, library layouts, widgets, presets, and more, making it easy to review detailed results and understand exactly how each part of your site was affected.
- View detailed migration results organized by content type
- See which items fully converted or use backward compatibility mode
- Identify exactly where attention is needed
Verify Migrated Divi 5 Content With A Structured Checklist
After completing a Divi 5 migration, many users are unsure what to check or where to start when reviewing their site. Important steps can be missed, leading to unnoticed layout issues, incorrect content display, or problems caused by items using backward compatibility mode. Our Divi Migration Helper plugin solves this by providing a structured checklist that guides you through reviewing key areas of your site, including layouts, dynamic content, and important pages, while using the detailed migration results as your reference so you can work through everything in a clear and intentional way. It also includes one-click actions to clear cache and re-save permalinks, helping you quickly resolve common post-migration issues as you go.
- Follow a structured checklist to review your migrated site
- Use migration results to guide what to check
- Clear cache and re-save permalinks with one click
Run Divi 4 To Divi 5 Migrations On Large Websites Without Browser Timeouts
Migrating a large Divi website through the browser can become unreliable when the process takes too long to complete. On websites with hundreds or thousands of pages, posts, Divi Library layouts, or Theme Builder templates, browser or hosting time limits can interrupt the migration before it finishes, forcing you to retry the process or split the migration into smaller parts. This can be frustrating for agencies and developers managing larger projects. Our Divi Migration Helper plugin solves this by providing a WP-CLI interface to Divi’s built-in migration engine, allowing you to run the same migration directly on your server instead of through the browser. You can preview the migration before making changes, process content in manageable batches, monitor migration progress, roll back converted content if needed, and even upgrade the Divi theme to Divi 5, making large migrations far more practical while continuing to use Divi’s official migration engine.
⚡Quick Highlights
- Run Divi migrations directly on your server
- Process large websites in manageable batches
- Preview, monitor, and roll back migrations
Automate Divi 4 To Divi 5 Migrations With AI And WP-CLI
As more developers use automation tools and AI coding agents to manage WordPress websites, browser-based migration workflows can become a bottleneck because they still require someone to manually run and monitor the Divi 4 to Divi 5 migration from the WordPress dashboard. This makes it difficult to include Divi migrations as part of a modern AI-assisted development workflow. Our Divi Migration Helper plugin solves this by providing a WP-CLI interface to Divi’s built-in migration engine with machine-readable output, reliable exit codes, and automation-friendly responses that work naturally with scripts, CI/CD pipelines, and AI coding agents that have authorized server access. This allows advanced users to automate Divi migration tasks while continuing to use Divi’s official migration engine, monitor migration results programmatically, while continuing to use Divi’s official migration engine and built-in rollback capabilities.
⚡Quick Highlights
- Automate Divi migration workflows
- Support AI coding agents with machine-readable output
- Detect migration results with reliable exit codes

Divi Migration Helper Scope
Divi Migration Helper provides an alternative workflow for migrating from Divi 4 to Divi 5. It uses Divi’s built-in migration system behind the scenes and does not replace or modify the underlying migration process.
This plugin does not perform the migration itself, resolve compatibility issues, or convert unsupported modules. It is designed to guide you through the process by helping you prepare your site, review compatibility, understand the expected results, and verify everything after the migration.
If you experience issues with the migration itself, please contact Elegant Themes, as the migration process is handled by Divi. You should only contact us if something is not working correctly within the Divi Migration Helper plugin. If you are unsure, you can compare the results using the default Divi migration screen.
Results depend on Divi, your site configuration, and any third-party plugins or custom code. This plugin helps you understand and manage the process, but does not control or guarantee migration outcomes.

I have followed Nelson for some time and have utilized his content to help with Divi needs. He has always been responsive and very helpful. His communication is prompt and clear. I believe the first time I ran across his content was looking to build a custom Mega Menu without a plugin. I walked through his video and it worked great! I recently bought his Divi Migration Helper plugin (Divi 4 to 5) and have found the same clear, detailed, simple documentation and walkthroughs that make it easy to come back to him time and time again. Thank you for making products that work and for your fantastic support that I know I can turn to when I need it! Many more, Nelson

Amazing plugin! This really helps with peace of mind in what can be a scary process. The plugin leads you through the needed steps and really helps identify what could be an issue before you migrate, allowing you to address issues before the fact. Very helpful and highly recommended!

Four stars? Ten stars? A million stars!
Somehow Nelson has built a better mousetrap.
I’ve found Elegant Themes’ built-in migration system to be flaky at best. Half the time it has to be run in Safe Mode, and when something goes wrong it doesn’t tell you *why*—it just… doesn’t work. Then you’re left playing a guessing game, deactivating plugins one by one and hoping you stumble across the culprit.
What Nelson built is what Elegant Themes should have built from the beginning.
The best way I can describe it is like a space mission:
* **Pre-launch checks:** It verifies your site is actually ready for migration before you begin.
* **The mission:** It performs the Elegant Themes migration directly from within the plugin.
* **Splashdown:** Once the migration is complete, it gives you a clear post-migration checklist of anything that still needs your attention.
Instead of crossing your fingers and hoping for the best, you know exactly where you stand every step of the way.
If you migrate Divi sites—even occasionally—this plugin is absolutely worth having. It’s one of those rare tools that solves a frustrating problem in a way that feels obvious in hindsight. Outstanding work, Nelson!

Hi everyone….I have to believe I’m not the only shopper out there who isn’t a developer and to add insult to injury, a nearly 70-year-old lady to boot! I came across Nelson on a YouTube video a couple of years ago and I was immediately hooked. I might even stalk him a little. 😉 LOL!
In all seriousness, I was absolutely terrified to make the jump to Divi5. I sent Nelson emails every 4-5 months asking him if the time was right to do it and he would tell me that there were still things that Divi needed to do and to check back, which I did. Imagine the anxiety the day he told me it was a good time to do it. He then told me he was working on a plugin to make the migration easier (I’m sure I was one of the people he knew he had to save from drowning). This plugin is amazing! He tells you what you need to do and what you need to pay attention to before you start the migration and you just hit “next” and follow along and before you know it, you are done. PLUS, he gives a couple of things to do after the migration with a “click here” (Again, I’m sure with me in mind!) and poof it was done.
While I’m typing this, I might as well say, if any of you out there are like me and could use a little extra hand-holding, I strongly encourage you to join his Lifetime Member Adventure Club. I promise you won’t be disappointed! All the plugins are included and they always, always work flawlessly. Best thing I’ve ever done! I cancelled every other forum/membership I had and will tell you that this is all you need. Hands down the best company I’ve ever worked with. Talk about customer service!
Nelson, if you see this, the old Utah lady says hello!

Our parish website hosts almost 500 published pages and more than 700 blog posts. The pages are interactive (connecting with one another, etc.) has extensive external links, and a large media library (images and pdfs). We use a wide variety of PeeAye plugins — and added the Divi Migration Helper. The migration to Divi 5 was made so much easier with the step-wise guidance, hints, cautions, and status from the Helper. …another top quality plugin. Thank you!

Thank you so much for this absolutely perfect plugin. It works flawlessly and clearly highlights what isn’t compatible.
We’ve been a customer of Pee-Aye Creative for quite some time and have the product “Divi Adventure Club Membership – Lifetime Unlimited”
I highly recommend it to anyone who doesn’t have it yet.
Nelson Miller (verified owner) –
Thank you René for that recommendation! It’s so good to hear its working well and is helpful!

As a Lifetime Adventure Club member, I am consistently impressed by the excellent products, dedication and leadership Nelson and his team provides for the Divi community. The new Migration Helper is yet another example. It seamlessly builds upon an existing Divi feature and delivers useful add-ons to enhance functionality and value. In this case, migrations from Divi 4 to 5 are something we all have to deal over the months and perhaps years ahead. The plugin makes it much easier to convert Divi assets you may already own (layouts, child themes, etc.) that were originally created for Divi 4 but have not been updated to Divi 5. It provides more detailed audits, records and overall flexibility compared to the default version. Great work Pee Aye Creative!
Nelson Miller (verified owner) –
Thank you Charles, I really appreciate this feedback! It’s my pleasure, and I am so glad we can continue to add value to the membership. Thanks for sharing this!

I came across this plug-in by mistake when I was in my Youtube account. After running the video on Youtube, I decided to create an account with pee-Aye and try this product. I am not a senior developer and I do not have many sites (yet) to support, but I have a few on Divi 4. This gave me comfort to run a migration and helped me trough the process. I think the language (if if I am not native) was created to speak to me as a not so skilled user and if all other product are like this, I will consider to try some of the education.
Nelson Miller (verified owner) –
Hi Jimmie, I’m so glad you found us! Yes, the explanations in our plugin is meant to be easy to understand, so this is great feedback! We have hundreds of tutorials on our blog and YouTube, and many more coming, so yes, I hope you continue to enjoy everything we offer!
Steve Westrop (verified owner) –
Thanks Nelson, helps for a smoother process transitioning and clearly marks what may not be compatible
