Troubleshooting
If you are facing a technical issue with the Divi Search Helper, please check the troubleshooting steps listed below. If the outcome of following the steps below points to an issue with our plugin specifically, please send us a support message. When you reach out for support, we will ask about the results of these troubleshooting steps to better understand and resolve the issue.
👉 General Troubleshooting Steps
Step 1: Deactivate All Plugins Except Divi Search Helper
When troubleshooting an issue with our plugin, it’s essential to determine whether there is a conflict with another plugin. To do this, please deactivate all other plugins on your site, leaving only the Divi Search Helper active. If deactivating the other plugins resolves the issue, it indicates a conflict with one of them.
To identify which plugin is causing the conflict, start by reactivating each plugin one at a time. After reactivating each plugin, refresh the page to check if the issue still happens. Continue this process until you find the plugin that triggers the problem.
Once you’ve identified the conflicting plugin, please let us know the details so we can provide further assistance.
If the issue is still happening with only our plugin active, it suggests the problem may not be related to a conflict and will require further investigation.
Step 2: Deactivate Our Divi Search Helper Plugin
Please temporarily deactivate the Divi Search Helper to confirm whether our plugin is causing the issue. While this may seem counterintuitive, it is an important step to verify if the problem is related to our plugin.
If the issue persists after deactivating our plugin, it suggests that our plugin is not the cause. Conversely, if the problem only occurs when our plugin is active, it indicates that our plugin might be involved and will require further investigation.
🔧 Common Issues
Below is a list of common issues you may encounter when using this plugin. Please review the solutions or explanations provided for any issues that are relevant to your situation.
Button Not Showing
If you have the “Show Button” option enabled but notice that the button is not appearing, please remember that the button will not be displayed when using AJAX live search results. This is because the button is unnecessary, as the results are shown dynamically as you type.

How does this plugin work?
The plugin adds new custom settings perfect integrated directly into the existing Divi Search module. Whenever the plugin is active, helpful new settings will automatically appear inside the Search module.
Is this a new module?
Nope! This is not a new module, but rather an upgrade to the existing Divi Search module. The great part about our unique approach to plugins is that you can install or remove this plugin without adding or removing any existing Search modules!
Does it have live AJAX search results?
Yes, this very exciting feature was added in version 2.0 and is incredible! You can set the search module to show the results in a dropdown below the input field that instantly shows the live results in a beautiful, fully customizable dropdown.
Why is there no visual preview?
Please note that Divi unfortunately cannot render a preview of our custom settings inside the Visual Builder. The custom settings provided by our plugin will take effect on the frontend when you exit the builder.
In the future, we expect Divi version 5.0 to be able to render custom settings, but until then we cannot do anything about it. We recommend keeping your page open in two separate tabs in your browser, one with the Divi builder enabled, and the other on the frontend. Whenever you save changes in the builder, you can immediately refresh the other tab to see the changes take effect.
We apologize for this inconvenience, but hope you can appreciate the value of our helpful and innovative features! The unique nature of our plugin which modifies the existing Divi Builder is too far ahead of its time! 😊
Does this work with the Divi Builder plugin?
Yes, all the settings added by our plugin are added in the existing Divi Search module, which is available in the Divi theme, Extra theme, and Divi Builder plugin when using another theme. The only settings that would be limited with the Divi Builder plugin are settings related to the Theme Builder search results template, because the Theme Builder is not included in the Divi Builder plugin. However, you can simply use our live AJAX search results dropdown, which actually makes this more compatible with using the Divi Builder plugin than without it.
Why is the search results URL so long?
The length of the search results URL in our Divi Search Helper plugin might seem extensive, but it’s simply a reflection of how the web operates, particularly within the WordPress environment. When you perform a search and refine your criteria, such as included posts, number of results, and sorting order, each of these parameters is appended to the URL.
This practice is not unique to our plugin; it’s inherent to WordPress itself. If you closely examine the URL, you’ll notice references to each criterion you’ve selected. Even without our plugin activated, WordPress includes search parameters in the URL by default.
The purpose of our plugin is to enhance the search functionality by providing additional options for refining search results. Consequently, as you add more criteria to fine-tune your search, the URL naturally becomes longer to accommodate these additional parameters.
If you’re curious about the impact of our plugin, you can easily confirm this by deactivating it and observing that the default WordPress search also includes parameters in the URL.
We designed the Divi Search Helper plugin to empower users with more control over their search experience, allowing for precise and tailored results based on individual preferences and criteria.
Does it work with the search icon in the default header?
Our plugin only upgrades the existing Divi Search module, so the search icon in the default Divi theme header would not be related to our plugin.
